Cody Hilbert went 2-4 as Chain Links Gold U16 took home a 7-2 victory over Longhorn Baseball in seven innings at Columbia on Sunday.

He singled in the first inning and doubled in the third inning.

Tripp Longgrear brought the heat against Longhorn Baseball during his outing. Longhorn Baseball managed just one hit off of Longgrear, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his two innings of work.

Chain Links Gold U16 built upon its lead with three runs in the second. A hit into a fielder’s choice scored Colby to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up by Parker Boyle‘s single, scoring Gavin Smith and Zack.

One run in the top of the third helped Longhorn Baseball close its deficit to 4-1. A groundout by #58 triggered Longhorn Baseball’s comeback. Boyle ended the inning by getting #13 to strike out.

It didn’t take long for Chain Links Gold U16 to answer as it scored one run of its own in the third. Chain Links Gold U16 scored on a wild pitch.

A one-run fourth inning helped bring Longhorn Baseball within three. A steal of home by #7 sparked Longhorn Baseball’s rally. #6 struck out to end the Longhorn Baseball threat.

After a quick strike from Longhorn Baseball, Chain Links Gold U16 responded with one run in the fourth. Chain Links Gold U16 scored on an RBI double by Zack.
